We are all very proud of the San Francisco Giants for bringing the World Series trophy home to our city by the Bay. It was a very close game five last night until Edgar Renteria’s three run homer in the seventh inning proved to be the difference as the San Francisco Giants captured their first World Series title since moving to the Bay Area in 1958. Renteria was later bestowed the honor of MVP for his awesome performance in the 2010 World Series. If Renteria does retire, we can’t think of a better way to go out than hitting a three run homer to win the World Series on his last at bat.
The prize that eluded Willie and Barry for so long finally belongs to San Francisco, thanks to a band of self-described castoffs and misfits and their shaggy-haired ace, Tim Lincecum, who proved unbeatable on the mound as he beat the great Cliff Leebin in the biggest game of his 26-year-old lifetime. Lincecum won 16 games this season and pitched eight solid innings as he surrendered only one run while striking out 10 batters.
To celebrate the San Francisco Giants’ win in game 5 of the World Series, our city will host a grand parade from the Financial District to Civic Center Plaza tomorrow Wednesday, Nov. 3. The parade will start at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Montgomery and Washington streets and will continue onto Market St. for six blocks. The parade will end with a celebration on the steps of San Francisco City Hall, where Mayor Gavin Newsom will present the team with a key to the city. The parade route is the same that the team took in 1958, after the team had been relocated from New York City.
We are honored to have 5 cable cars, which will carry Giant’s players and their families, and 20 motor coaches from our fleet in tomorrow’s parade. After their win last night, all players unanimously attributed their win to their fans.
